Historic Preservation

Historic Preservation is an important way for us to transmit our understanding of the past to future generations.

Shorewood’s inherited built environment, most of which was constructed in the early 20th century, illustrates the story of Shorewood’s development. New residents made choices about housing design, community services, and educational priorities that are reflected in our well maintained homes and public buildings.

Preserving our story is a Shorewood Historical Society priority. We are working with Village trustees and staff and with residents to develop historic preservation policies appropriate for our community.
