Shorewood SCAN Day – Saturday, October 4

A 125th Anniversary Project
Saturday Oct. 4, 2025, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Shorewood Village Center , 3910 N. Murray Ave.

Digitizing our collections and making them available to the public on-line is a long term goal of the Shorewood Historical Society.   Our current digital collection includes newspapers, yearbooks and telephone directories.

SCAN Day is an opportunity for the community to add to our digital files.

We are particularly interested in obtaining pictures and documents from mid-20th century to the presents that are Shorewood related.

Bring your Shorewood items to SCAN Day and we will scan or photograph your material to add to our digital collection. Your items will be returned to you along with a thumb drive containing copies of the digital files.

Notes:

  • When choosing photos for scanning, consider the background as well as the main subject (old businesses, a house that has been renovated, construction, street or neighborhood pictures that illustrate change over time). Try to identify location and any people pictured.
  • Items to be scanned must be flat and no larger than 8.5 by 14
  • Larger or three dimensional items can be photographed.
  • Slides will be accepted, but no more than a dozen per person as they are time-consuming to scan.
  • Arrive no later than 2 p.m. so that work can be completed by 3 p.m.
