The Charles T. Sheldon Room
The Sheldon Room is named for Charles T. Sheldon, a Shorewood resident from the
1920’s to the 1970’s. A talented amateur photographer, Mr. Sheldon recorded much
of Shorewood’s history over six decades. He also began a local historical
society in the 40s and 50s although it did not last.
Many of his photographs are now a part of the Shorewood Historical Society’s
collection, donated by his daughter Mary Sheldon Green. She appears as a
young girl in many of his pictures. At her death, Mrs. Green bequeathed part of
her estate to the Historical Society. Her generosity has made it possible for
the Society to open the Sheldon Room and make the collection more accessible to
the public.
Available in the Sheldon room are the societies books, Shorewood High School
yearbooks, the Wisconsin History magazines, various information sheets from
historical societies, the Shorewood Herald Collection Centennial Project --
highlighting Shorewood history from 1923 - 2000.
