Electronic Catalog

In the spring of 2004, the Historical Society began the task of electronically cataloging all of the material we currently have in our archives. Using PastPerfect Museum Software version 3.5, society volunteers are entering accession numbers as well as descriptive information on each of the items in the archives. The collection includes photos, newspapers, books, letters, village records and many personal items.   Eventually all of the compiled information will be available for public review and research on the computer located in the Sheldon Room, lower level of the Village Center.

Building Photography Project

Because the Society is frequently asked questions about village buildings (particularly homes), we are starting a project that will involve taking a picture of every building in Shorewood. The pictures will be added to our electronic catalog along with previous photos and any other information we have about the building (architecture style, previous owners, etc.)  Volunteer photographers with digital cameras are needed to help with this project which is expected to take several months to complete.

The Shorewood business district was photographed in the fall of 2005 as a test run for the project. Residential photography began  in the spring of 2006.

Digital photographers willing to help with the project, please contact Karen de Hartog,  dehs@execpc.com or Barb Corriveau, bcorriveau@BDO.com
